Manuel llídio de Aguiar Ramos Rodrigues de Sousa, born in the city of Matosinhos on 12/7/57, son of Manuel Tavares Rodrigues de Sousa and Maria da Conceição de Aguiar Ramos Rodrigues de Sousa, married with 2 children, entered Brotero College in the city of Porto in 1963, having attended pre-primary, primary and the first two years of high school. He moved on to the Liceu Nacional D. Manuel II, Matosinhos section, which he attended until the end of his 7th year, always exempt from all final exams. He did a year of Civic Service in the Health area, working at the Matosinhos Health Centre. He entered the 1st year of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Porto, having been selected to go into the 2nd year by 270 students out of around 1,000 in the 1st year. He finished his degree in Medicine and Surgery in 1982. By lot, he was assigned to Guimarães Hospital to do his general internship and was later transferred to Matosinhos Hospital on request. He joined the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery team of the Honourable Dr Manuel Cardoso do Matosinhos as 2nd assistant and later 1st assistant. Dr Manuel Cardoso do Carmo's team in 1978, where he remained until 1998. He joined the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery team of the former Dr Ribeirinho Soares in 1989. He was 1st assistant in the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery team of the former Dr António Martins de Carvalho from 1991 to 1996. He attended the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery department at the Hospital Geral de Sto. António.
From 1987 to 1996, he carried out 2128 plastic surgery operations at Lousada Hospital. He was assistant from 1995 to 1999 to the former Dr Francisco Ibérico Nogueira. He became Clinical Director and partner in April 1997, at the start of the Renaissance - Plastic Surgery and Laser clinic. In January/February 1997, he did a laser traineeship with plastic surgeon Dr Mário Trelles at the Vilafortuny Institute in Cambrils, Tarragona, Spain. He was part of the Institute's teaching team at a congress held in Valença on the theme ‘Laser in Plastic Surgery’ on 31 January and 1 February of that year.He did an internship in the laser department at the Tres Torres Clinic in Barcelona with plastic surgeon Dr António Brualla in March 1997. He attended and obtained the Inter-University Diploma in Medical and Surgical Laser in June 1998, with a final mark of 17.8, having attended theoretical classes in the French cities of Lille and Nancy and the internship in Barcelona. On 31 July 1998 he left his job at the Renaissance Clinic.
He applied for and obtained a Master's degree in Medical and Surgical Laser from the Rovira i Virgili Faculty of Medicine, starting in May 2000 and finishing in December 2001. Since 4 December 2000, he has been managing Partner of the Artlaser Plastic Surgery Clinic and is responsible for the Laser Department.
